During mid
90's a number of Kurdish Intellectuals and Scientists started editing and issuing a scientific magazine in Kurdish Language
to deliver the latest up to date news and researches in variety different fields of sciences; Physics, Astronomy, Environment,
Chemistry, Medicine and etc.
The names of those who potentially contributed in organising
the magazine in a form of Editorial Board were:
Haemin Aziz Mufti
Delawer Ala
Deen
Dara Jameel
The first issue came out in May 1995, and the second
issue was in June 1997. Certainly, the gap was too long. Initially the plan was to issue the magazine at least once a season.
But unfortunately due to the lack of supports, mainly financial, we could not continue.
Some Facts
Let me tell you a number of facts about Zanist U Serdem:
The magazine was originally established to bring the level of education in Kurdish Community in abroad
and in Kurdistan to a standard level. Most of people could not easily access the information
published in the magazine.
To train the Kurdish Community on reading scientific articles and update their mind on constant base.
Kurdish Association in West London played an important role in the
first volume of the magazine. Certainly, we have acknowledged and thanked them in the introduction. Some part of editing and
design, Kurdish Information Centre in North London organised it.
We would like to thank Fazeel Khasab who was really spending to much time on typing the Kurdish fonts
to an Apple Computer donated by Salar Fakhry who gave us, the Editorial Board, to use his office in the evening for organising
the work. Really, it was not an easy job. Particularly, at that time the only programs accessing Kurdish Fonts were Apple
Mac System.
We tried hard with some community centres in London including both main parties; PUK and KDP representatives
to assist the situation just to keep the issue going even if twice a year, but all, unfortunately, failed.
Finally, we reached to a stage that we, the editorial board, had to spend money on running at least the
second edition. This again could not last long.
Most of the magazines still are in my possession and most of those whom we sent to in different countries
such as Germany, Sweden,
etc. still the money has not been recovered.
I am hopping if I invite writers to restart such work
but this time the place would be through this web site. As a result most of people, mainly in Kurdistan
can access to it may we can achieve the same goal as I discussed earlier.
